Betting on a good time.
Sometimes a problem is SO big that all you can do is laugh - and that's exactly what we plan to do! On Sunday November 20th, the country's hottest comedians are gathering in Las Vegas for Earth to America! - a wake-up call to entertain and educate the American public about - you guessed it -- global warming.
TBS presents comedy's biggest stars, including Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Ray Romano, Jack Black, Larry David, Al Franken, Bill Maher, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and special guests, Leonardo DiCaprio, Dustin Hoffman and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., in the first prime-time issue oriented comedy special in over a decade.
And all the good work isn't just happening on stage! Hotels across the Las Vegas Strip are working to improve efficiency and lessen environmental impact, resulting in lower costs for the hotels and less global warming pollution. Harrahs, the parent company of Caesars Palace, Paris, the Flamingo and Peter Morton's Hard Rock Hotel and Casino are already taking great strides to reduce their energy consumption and carbon emissions.
While this is good news, we can't stop here in Las Vegas. We must ask hotels across our nation to do the simple things that can make such a difference. An industry innovator, Ray Burger, started an environmentally conscious business to help them along in these goals. Pineapple Hospitality provides environmentally sensitive products (shampoos and spa products) and solutions (energy-efficient lighting and energy-saving thermostats) that save hotels money and energy. Once again, this proves that good business is good for the environment.
Whether a large hotel or a private home, it's hard to ignore that many of the ways we help stop global warming also help us save money. In a town that's got the green of money all over it, it's nice to see that they have the other green hanging around too.
