The Stop Global Warming Virtual March is a non-political effort bringing Americans together to declare that global warming is here now and it’s time to act.

The American Pavilion

The American Pavilion recreates itself every year on a beach recognized the

world over for being one of the most beautiful. For 17 years The Pavilion

has played host to the world's film community, accommodating the need for

information, orientation, and recreation in this most scenic of locales.

Regrettably, for 17 years we have contributed to global warming and the

destruction of this beautiful environment by flying hundreds of people to

the Festival, serving thousands of meals on paper plates with plastic

cutlery and serving thousands of beverages in cans and bottles, using paper

and plastic cups. We have carpeted and decorated The Pavilion every year

for 17 years and at the end of our 12-day tenure, we have discarded this

carpet and the foam core signage and while we have made a valiant effort to

recycle the paper, the plastic, the cans and the bottles, we have barely

scratched the surface.

We are only one Pavilion in the International Village in Cannes. And Cannes

is only one Festival amongst thousands. . Film Festivals represent just one

category of large-scale events that take place every day at one location or

another around the world. The amount of waste created by this one Pavilion

at this one event is bad enough, but when multiplied by events worldwide,

the waste is staggering.

We need to stop.

And that is why we are marching.

As film industry professionals we are powerful and influential evangelists.

We shouldn't just join the march. We should lead the march.
