The Conservation Fund

Climate change has become the biggest environmental issue of this century. But while most Americans agree that we must do something, the challenge seems too great, too complicated for any one of us to make a difference -- until now. The Virtual March on Washington is an important and innovative way to engage the world in fighting climate change. For its part, The Conservation Fund has launched a new program called Go Zero that makes it easy and affordable for individuals as well as corporations and communities of any size to Go ZeroSM by measuring and offsetting their specific carbon dioxide 'footprint' - simply by planting trees. Native trees and forests help fight climate change as part of a natural process called photosynthesis. As they grow, trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere convert it into oxygen.

The Conservation Fund, a national environmental nonprofit, has been a recognized leader in developing and implementing 'on-the-ground' solutions to help fight global warming. Over the past five years, The Conservation Fund has worked with public and private partners to plant more than 5 million trees, which will 'trap' 10 million tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere over the next 70 years. Most recently, The Conservation Fund created a program called Go Zero that enables all Americans to take personal responsibility for their direct contribution to climate change. The Go Zero program and it's carbon zero calculator measures an individual's CO2 emissions and with a small donation will offset the carbon dioxide 'footprint' by planting the appropriate number of trees.
